Luxe DIY Packaging using Rubber Stamps

DIY Packaging with Rubber Stamps | Pretty Peas Paperie

Hello, crafters! Today I’m going to share with you a DIY packaging project using our new, vintage-inspired, custom rubber stamp. I just LOVE the simplicity of this one…it’s a perfect example that luxury packaging can be achieved without a big budget!

Supplies Needed:

1. If you like the look of a deckled edge, start by carefully tearing your paper into 3.5″ by 2″ tags (the size of a standard U.S. business card). I did this by folding my paper, wetting the edges with water, then tearing. (This works best with thick cotton or watercolor paper.)

2. The type of ink you use is very important. Since this stamp has really small text, the VersaFine for Fine Details pad is perfect. It does a great job of keeping the ink on the surface of the paper and not seeping/smearing/smudging. Blot your stamp into the pad until the design is covered with ink. Press gently and evenly onto the paper.

3. I bought this eyelet setter set on sale YEARS ago at Michaels. It comes with 4 setting tips, 3 punching tips, and a setting mat packed inside a small, easy-to-store box. Place your stamped tag on the setting mat. (A durable cutting mat works, too.)

Here’s what the tip looks like. (I’m not sure what it’s called, but it’s the one that fits 1/8″ eyelets. These eyelets are very small and will not work with anything thicker than twine. Feel free to use a bigger eyelet depending on your needs.)

After punching a hole on either side of the tag, insert the eyelet, turn the tag over, and punch down with the setter.

Once your eyelets are in, thread your twine.

4. Tie your tag around the box and you’re done! Isn’t is pretty?!

Bird Message | Creative Gift Wrap

Something fun for Friday…a little DIY inspiration for gift wrap!

I bought a package of feathered craft birds at a local craft store thinking I’d SOMEDAY have a use for them. And lo and behold, I did! After wrapping a box in Paper Source’s Chartreuse Dots, I tied a bow with this lovely jute-striped ribbon. Instead of a paper gift tag, I glued a bird directly onto the box, then glued a strip of kraft paper under its beak, and voila…

A birthday note delivered by bird! Simple, cute, and super easy. :)

*Links have been provided for the supplies, but it’s not necessarily where I purchased everything.
